Maps & Directions

All are invited to join us for a free event showcasing the careers our staff have with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Our featured guest will be Aunt Pearlie Sue and the Gullah Kinfolk. They will do live performances at 11:30, 1:00, and 2:30. Gullah food will also be available for purchase.

You can expect to test out your archery skills on the outdoor range, talk to our law enforcement officers, learn about wildland firefighting , archaeology, biology, and more in a fun and welcoming setting.

This event will also host the official “passing of the keys” from our non-profit, Friends of the Savannah Coastal Wildlife Refuges, of the new environmental education building. It will also be the day we kick-off our Savannah Coastal Refuges Complex Photo Contest.

Admission Details

From Downtown Savannah: Take Oglethorpe Avenue east which will merge onto the Talmadge Memorial Bridge (US-17). Cross bridge into South Carolina and continue on US-17 for about 7 miles. Savannah NWR Visitor Center entrance will be on your left.

From I-95 Southbound: Take SC Exit 5 (Hardeeville/Savannah), U.S. 17 South towards Savannah, GA (right off of exit ramp). After about 6 miles, you'll come to an interchange with SC 170 West. Stay on U.S. 17 up over the overpass like you're going to Savannah, and the Savannah NWR Visitor Center entrance is approximately 1/2 mile beyond the overpass on your right. There is a sign at the interchange with SC 170 West indicating to exit right for the Savannah NWR, however, this will take you to another part of the refuge; not the visitor center. We recommend stopping at the visitor center first for information on accessing other parts of the refuge.

From I-95 Northbound: Take GA Exit 109 (Port Wentworth), GA Hwy 21 South towards Savannah, GA (right off of exit ramp). Continue on Hwy 21 South approximately 3 miles to traffic light at Bonny Bridge Road and turn left. Continue to first traffic light and take a left onto GA Hwy 25/Coastal Hwy. Follow GA 25 across the Savannah River, into South Carolina and continue for approximately 5 miles to the junction with U.S. Hwy 17. Turn right onto U.S. Hwy 17 South towards Savannah, GA, and the Savannah NWR Visitor center entrance will be on your right in about 1/2 mile.
