Senator Tom Davis will be the featured speaker at a public forum to discuss the proposed one percent sales and use tax referendum. For those unable to attend the October 24th public forum at the Bluffton Branch Library, the event will be streamed via Facebook Live and can be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/sayyestothepenny

The free public forum, “Get the Facts on Sales and Use Tax”, will be discussing Question #1 on the November 6th ballot, which will give people the opportunity to vote on the proposed one percent sales and use tax referendum, with monies collected to be used towards repairing and installing roads, bridges and sidewalks in Beaufort County. The event, which will educate attendees about the issues and feature a presentation, handout materials and a Q&A session, will discuss the three specific projects to be funded and the time period which automatically expires in for years. An estimated half of the $120 million to be collected will come from tourists and commuters from other counties making a taxable purchase within Beaufort County, according to county authorities.
