Maps & Directions

The Coastal Discovery Museum will host Russ Webb in a virtual program about the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge on March 24 at 2 pm.  This sanctuary is the home to approximately 22 species of migratory waterfowl that winter in coastal South Carolina.  Three-thousand acres of former plantation rice fields are now actively managed by a series of water control structures, effectively serving as impoundments to provide feeding areas and sanctuary for waterfowl, shorebirds, wading birds, and other wildlife.  Webb is the Refuge Manager for Savannah, Pinckney Island, Tybee, and Wassaw NWRs and has for 29 years managed coastal resources.

The cost for this virtual program is $5 and reservations are required by calling 843-689-6767 ext. 223.
