Oysters are Habitat Forming and Every Bushel Counts
Coastal Discovery Museum 70 Honey Horn Drive, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926
Join us at the Coastal Discovery Museum as Holly Sommers, a Wildlife Biologist for SCDNR's Oyster Shell Recycling Program (SCORE) presents this program. Oysters are culturally, economically, and ecologically important to South Carolina estuaries. Learn how SCDNR works to manage local oyster populations by replacing reclaimed oyster shell back into the estuaries, and how you, the consumer, play a huge role in that management process. We will discuss the ecological benefits of oyster beds, how we reclaim oyster shell, and population management practices.
Cost is $7 in-person and $5 for virtual viewing and reservations are required by calling 843-689-6767 ext. 223.
