Alan Flowers started TalkOne Radio with a mission to build community using an all-talk format. Now, he wants to promote local businesses on TalkOne Radio — for free.

“This is a no-cost promotion to ease the pain of the coronavirus crisis,” said Flowers, adding that he wants TalkOne “to really be that local station, your hometown station, where it’s not just what you’re talking about; it’s really more about being involved in the community.”

TalkOne is an all-talk radio show that takes call-ins from listeners. Callers are screened by a producer and can interact with Flowers and guests in real-time. The show airs live from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Listeners can tune in to live and archived shows on talkoneradio.com or using RadioMAX app for mobile devices.

The free promotion is available for local businesses in the Lowcountry area — including Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton and Chatham counties — and features a 10- to 20-minute on-air interview with up to two people at TalkOne’s studio, located at 70 Pennington Drive Suite 16D in Bluffton, or by calling into the station at 1-843-800-1492.

“Think of this as your infomercial,” said Flowers, addressing local businesses.

Flowers encourages customers of the featured local business to call in during the interview at 843-800-1492. Businesses also will receive a free ad on the website, which includes a logo and a link to their website for a week after the interview airs. The interview will be archived on the website.

The offer expires at the end of May. If interviews are registered before the expiry date but scheduled after this time, the interviews will take place after the normal broadcast on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

To register, e-mail Flowers at [email protected].

“There’s no catch,” Flowers said. “I hope that as we come out of this together, relationships built now will be remembered later. If not, that’s OK, too, as we strive to do the right thing. This offer is given without expectations.”
