Sanctuaries of Renewal: A Grief Retreat in the Low Country -- Join Dr. Susan Sterkenberg for a transformative two-day grief retreat at May River Manor, a stunning boutique estate in Bluffton, South Carolina, on November 2-3, 2026 (with an evening welcome gathering on Sunday, November 1). Rooted in Dr. Sterkenberg's doctoral research and her own lived experience of loss, this retreat offers a holistic, evidence-based approach to grief -- addressing both the emotional and physical demands of bereavement through guided group discussion, somatic body healing, expressive arts, a candlelight remembering ceremony, and nature walks on the Low Country grounds. Participants will craft a personal memory book honoring their loved one, taken home as a lasting tribute. The retreat fee is $795 (early bird) / $995 after August 1, and includes all meals, materials, and a copy of Dr. Sterkenberg's book Becoming Sanctuary.
