October Hilton Head Island Weather
Cooler days prevail as Hilton Head Island settles into the autumn season. Of course, here on the Island, cool is just code for comfortably warm.

Though the temperature is substantially lower than the previous month, it’s still plenty warm to enjoy the many outdoor activities the Island has to offer. It rains an average 7 out of 31 days during October on Hilton Head Island, sprinkling the Island with approximately 112 mm throughout the month. Though a coastal retreat, Hilton Head experiences a less than 2 percent chance of hurricane during October, making it a great worry-free destination to stretch out the summer season.
Summer may be over for most of the country, but it sure doesn’t feel like it on Hilton Head Island. During October the comfortably warm temperatures are complemented by blue skies, as an average 12 days of the month remain clear with less than 30 percent cloud cover. Daylight may be dwindling but visitors can still expect nearly 11 hours of light from sunrise to sunset, an adequate amount of time to get out and explore the Island.
The humidity on Hilton Head Island is heightened slightly this month as the warm waters off the coast of the Island contribute the air's moisture. Peaking in the morning at 87 percent, the humidity usually drops to 53 percent by early afternoon, combining with moderate temperatures making for a comfortable Lowcountry climate throughout October.
