Non-stop to the First Tee?

Golfers from the Washington DC area were part of an Island celebration when they landed at Hilton Head’s newly-expanded airport on the last Saturday in March.

Their taxi to the gate drove under a cascading arch of water from the airport’s fire truck water cannons, welcoming United Airlines to Hilton Head for twice-daily service from Dulles airport, the first of the ‘new’ flights directly to the Golf Island from the homes of some of the most golf-inspired travelers in America, thanks to the extended runway that allows for jet service from the major airlines.

United’s twice-a-day, every day, service to DC is augmented by twice-a-weekend (Saturdays and Sundays) flights non-stop from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and Saturday non-stop service to and from Newark (EWR), allowing you to make a tee time around noon on the day you arrive and to squeeze one more round in before your afternoon flight home!

American Airlines already flies between HHH and Charlotte (CLT) multiple times a day, every day, but American is also adding Saturday and Sunday flights beginning May 4th from Washington Reagan (DCA) that could have you on the tee before noon and still allow you to at least play a final nine holes before you fly home- arriving before 1:30pm.
And later this spring, Delta will return to Hilton Head Island with thrice-daily flights from Atlanta (ATL) beginning May 23rd and Saturday flights from New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) on June 8th.

You can still fly into the larger, nearby Savannah/Hilton Head Airport (SAV) and then drive 45 minutes to the Island. Savannah serves more than a dozen non-stop destinations from as far west as Denver, Dallas and Houston, Boston and New York in the Northeast and even from Miami in the south.

But now you can also fly to within 5 miles of every major resort on Hilton Head Island, and with those new non-stops, you’re a quick connection through Atlanta, O’Hare, Dulles, Reagan, Newark and LaGuardia from literally anywhere in the world.

Just like golf, where you have options of hitting driver or 3-metal off the tee, flop-shot or bump-and-run around our greens, or roll the ball over the lip of the cup or bang it into the back of the jar, you now have more options to come visit the 30-plus courses that make Hilton Head “the’ Golf Island. The tee is yours!
