On Hilton Head Island, our locals believe in giving our guests a warm welcome. As you can see, the dolphins of Hilton Head Island’s waters feel the same way. They put on a show for Lesly Crick this summer while on a boat tour, and the resulting photo is stunning. Learn more about Hilton Head Island’s dolphins here.

It’s turtle time! If you visit Hilton Head Island during the loggerhead turtle’s nesting and hatching season, you might be lucky to spot a hatchling making its way to sea. Many Instagrammers were lucky to capture photos and videos of hatchlings—while keeping a respectful distance—on their way to the sea. Will you find one next year? Learn more about nesting and hatching season, and how Hilton Head Island protects the loggerhead sea turtle.

If you don’t snap a photo of the Harbour Town Lighthouse, a Hilton Head Island icon, when you visit, were you really here? In 2018, the Lighthouse was decked out in plaid to celebrate the 50th Annual RBC Heritage presented by Boeing. We think it pulled off the new look!

You know what they say: “Red skies at night, visitor’s delight.” OK, fine, we swapped “sailor” for “visitor”, but you get the gist. A Hilton Head Island sunset (or sunrise, for that matter) is one of those moments that takes our breath away no matter how many times we see one. Carin Vaughn captured this beautifully.

You didn’t think we could make it through a list of the top photos around Hilton Head Island without a few beach shots, did you? We basically hear the waves crashing and smell the salty air when we look at this photo from Marion D. It had to make it onto this list.

It might not be #ThrowbackThursday, but Hilton Head Island’s skies really came alive this winter with the Super Blue Blood Moon. Are you a stargazing enthusiast? Night owls and early birds love spending time on Hilton Head Island to catch a glimpse of some spectacular light shows from Mother Nature.

Dinner with a view? Don’t mind if we do. Pro tip: Dine on the north end of Hilton Head Island to enjoy stunning sunsets and seafood at the same time. The Skull Creek Dockside Restaurant is a local favorite. Browse more Lowcountry restaurants you should try the next time you visit.

The only drama you’ll experience on a Hilton Head Island vacation? The skies! Take notes from Connor R. and hit the beach for golden hour—you won’t regret it.

Hilton Head Island’s hotels, inns, and resorts aren’t just the perfect places to refresh and relax. They’re also picturesque in their own right. This view of the sunrise, right from your balcony, pairs perfectly with a cup of coffee before you start your day.
