What’s Happening on Hilton Head Island & Bluffton in August

There’s no place like Hilton Head Island in the summer. Warm, dreamy days turn to picture-perfect evenings for a month of fun in the sun. From getting into the groove at a Parrot Palooza concert, to interacting with your favorite animals, and enjoying a firework night at Shelter Cove Harbor and Marina—there are so many things to look forward to on your August vacation. So, turn your out of office email ON, and mark your calendars with these fun things to do on Hilton Head Island and Bluffton this month!

Parrot Palooza Concert at HarbourFest

August 1, 8, 15, 22, 31, 7PM - 9.30PM—Shelter Cove Harbour and Marina. 

Get your dancing shoes on and head to the Parrot Palooza Concert at HarbourFest for a night of live entertainment. Featuring Shannon Tanner & The Oyster Reefer’s, this event is a great night out for the entire family. Cappy the Clown will also be at the harbour with fun kids’ activities from 6PM - 9PM.

August 6, 13, 20, 6PM - 10PM (Weather permitting)–Shelter Cove Harbour and Marina

These annual summertime fireworks are a sight not to be missed! This weekly summer festival is sure to be the cherry on top of your day of fun in the sun. Come out, enjoy a little bit of sparkle and a whole lot of family-fun. 

Critters Meet and Greet

Wednesdays and Fridays in August, 10AM - 1PM—Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn

Always wanted to meet an alligator up-close? Take this opportunity to have a casual meet and greet with alligators, snakes, and other Hilton Head Island critters. Come, learn, and discover how to safely share the Lowcountry landscape with these island locals. This event is family-friendly. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. Cost is $10 adults and $5 children (ages 5 - 12). Tickets may be bought in advance or on the day of at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn.

Free Golf Class and Exhibition

Each Monday in August, 4PM - 4:50PM—Robert Trent Jones Oceanfront Course

Up for a spot of golf? Practice your swing and ask those burning questions to former PGA Tour player Doug Weaver and staff. This class is hands-on, interactive, and great for all skill levels. You can also volunteer for a chance to receive a free lesson or win a prize! 

Historic Bike Tour

Each Wednesday in August, 10AM - 11:30AM—Hilton Head Island Community Park (Sailing and Rowing Centre)

Do you love biking? Are you a history buff? Enjoy a relaxing, three-mile bike tour through some of Hilton Head Island’s most captivating historic sights. Discover the fishing co-op, the grounds of the Gullah Cemetery, an Indian shell enclosure, a former plantation and more! Don’t forget to pack your sunscreen, bug spray, and water. Admission is $15/adult and $10/child (ages 10+) with your own bike, or $25/adult and $20/child with bikes provided. Registration required, visit heritagelib.org/Tours

Movie Night in the Park 

August 1, 8, 15, 9PM—Shelter Cove Community Park.

For the perfect end to the perfect day, stop by Shelter Cove Community Park for a family-friendly movie night. As you witness the beauty of the sun setting, get comfortable on beach chairs or blankets to watch all of your favorite movies on a 20’ movie screen. Take-out food and seat rentals can be purchased from the Shelter Cove Towne Centre merchants. The titles for August are as follows:
